I couldn't help but just be happy when I saw these feathers sprouting out of Minerva. He's like an unknown flower you've fed and watered as a seedling and felt desperate at times as to whether it would bloom to be a blue bonnet or a rose. You see, I wanted the rose. And I've grown one!

Jiggity Jog

The chickens have feathered out sooo beautifully! Dragon here, is one of the three prettiest, and she looks comfortable, doesn't she?
I do worry for the heat factor though. Today I sprayed down the chicken run in hopes that will help some. I've asked Pop (for the third time) to get them a mister, so that will be nice for them.
They still don't have any roosts! Poor biddies! Oh well, SOON!

A Wedding

This was my bouquet! I could have crushed it, I loved it so much.

Rupert

Minerva is becoming more and more to me like a Rupert, so for now that is what I shall call him. He is still sooo sweet and very patient. A long time ago though, I noticed he has a few problems and I can't understand what they could mean. He constantly flops down on the ground holding himslef in a sitting position. He'll sit and eat, sit and drink,... and also when he is up and about he kind of drags his wings at times? Other than that he seems a very fine rooster. Rupy's on the large side and has a handsome coloring. If you look under his feathers, you can see some bright orange and red ones coming in! I'm speaking from the time this picture was taken, before I went to Virginia for Autumn's wedding. Well hopefully it's just growing pains:)

The Cat in the Family

This is my cat, Phlox. She likes the chickens, very much... but since she's an inside cat and since the chickens are outside and in a critter safe coop, I don't worry about it much. I've had her for five years. I got her as a kitten to fulfill the desire of wanting an owl. Did you know the chickens were the same way? I got them in place of a pet crow! Have you ever heard of crow hunting? It isn't easy.

Children and Beards

Alek is a little bit afraid of them, but when he is brave he'll touch their head with one finger and then jerk it back and giggle, "Sweet!" Meaning, "Their not mean their sweet." This is one of my favorite pictures of him, although it was taken in February. He's wearing my homemade beanie!
